Liu Bao
Dark brown, slightly greyish leaves with a delicate vibrant aroma full of exotic wood and spices. A dense dark brown infusion of full-bodied, rich, creamy smooth flavours with hints of precious woods and resins, a trace of earthiness and a long sweet aftertaste.
The tea was purchased by a Taiwanese merchant as loose tea, without original packaging. Therefore, its dating is somewhat unclear. As we do not have the original basket, we cannot determine the year with certainty, but it is most likely a Bao Lan tea. It has been steamed twice and then aged in Malaysia.
How to prepare Liu Bao
These tea leaves are suitable for Asian-style preparation, which includes multiple infusions: you steep 5 grams of tea leaves per 150 ml of water that has boiled and cooled to 85–90 °C for 30 seconds and in the following three infusions, you steep the leaves for 40, 60, and 90 seconds, respectively. Feel free to experiment with steeping time, water temperature, and the amount of tea leaves. You can also read our articles on tea preparation and water quality.
Bao Lan

This well-known tea trading company, founded in 1885 under the name Chen Chun Lan Baoding Tea House and based in Hong Kong, has long played a key role in the tobacco and tea trade, with a particular emphasis on Liu Bao tea.
