Summer black tea from the Sakhejung Garden in Ilam, Nepal. Nicely processed, completely oxidized, slightly rolled unbroken dry leaves consisting mainly of hairy top tips. Full dense infusion of dark orange color and round, honey, sweet woody flavors with tones of stone fruit, vanilla, malt and a pleasant fleshy astringency in the aftertaste.

How to brew Sakhejung Tea

Use 5 grams of tea leaves for 0.5 litre of boiling water cooled to 85-90 °C, steep for 2–3 minutes. Feel free to experiment with steeping time, water temperature, and the amount of tea leaves. You can also read our articles on tea preparation and water quality.

Small factory Sakhejung

On 2008, Mrs Milan registered the Kanchangha Organic Hand Made Tea Industry trade mark and purchased her first industrial drier. In 2013, she opened Sakhejung − a small tea factory with modern tea-processing equipment.

The Sakhejung factory is in northern Ilam near Nepal’s east border. Its yearly production amounts to about 20 tonnes of tea. It is a family business with eighteen permanent and fifteen seasonal employees.
